Another Brugge beer institution, De Garre is located up a tiny alleyway off Briedelstraat, which links Markt and Burg. The pub has three levels, and you can often find them all so packed that all tables are taken (no standing is allowed). In these circumstances it pays to ask others if you can share their table, as most people are quite accommodating. The list runs to over 150 beers, all served with style on a little tray with doily & some nibbles of cheese. The draft list includes a famous 11% house tripel from Van Steenberge, which has been on fine form these last few years. Stay late for the playing of the Bolero which signifies closing time (though note the current early closing Mon-Thu, which is expected to be temporary).
